من توجيهات جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني ابن الحسين المعظم، أُسس صندوق الملك عبدالله الثاني للتنمية بموجب قانون رقم (13) لسنة 2001 (والذي أصبح فيما بعد قانون رقم (37) لسنة 2004) بهدف تعزيز التنمية المستدامة للبلاد. ويسعى الصندوق، بالشراكة مع القطاعين العام والخاص، إلى تنفيذ مشاريع وبؤر تنموية خصوصاً في المناطق التي تعاني من الفقر والبطالة
